Ike--we are ok here in Dallas

Ike has not given us any trouble in the Dallas area. We have gusty winds and rain, but nothing too bad. I cleared things off the flagstone patio just in case the wind got too bad. I noticed only one container plant blowing around.

This little Wax Myrtle is pretty bend over, but it's ok. You can also see a few other flowers leaning, but they are also ok.

The rain was not bad--there was no flooding. We were very lucky. Galveston, Houston and East Texas were not so lucky. My sister in law in Lufkin had a tree fall on her house. My sister in Houston (Spring) has a tree in her swimming pool, and I'm afraid Galveston has suffered alot of damage. The Texas bloggers from that area maybe out of touch for a while since Houston is without power. Please keep them in your thoughts.
I am so touched by all of your concern. I feel truly blessed to have such good blogging buddies!

I'm so glad that you didn't suffer any major damage Linda. I will keep the other Texas bloggers who weren't as lucky in my thoughts & prayers. By the way your garden is gorgeous even in the rain. :)

Just stumbled across your blog today. I'm a Dallas-area native, transplanted to Seattle. Your blog and photos are such a nice glimpse of sunny, sunny home. Aaahhh, rudbekia. : ) Stay safe and keep up the good work! - Jennifer

Thanks pgl. There IS something pretty about a garden in the rain. I'm glad we didn't the bad storm--we just got good soaking rain all day

Hello Jennifer! Yes, those rudbeckia are true natives. They do better than any flower I have!
Thanks for visiting!

I'm glad that you didn't have any wind damage in Dallas. Austin got nothing at all. It was just hot and partly sunny with occasional minor wind gusts.

Your garden does look pretty with the rain-washed leaves.

i am so glad you have made it thru the storms with little to no damage. i made a comment on the your beautiful leafy plant for your porch but it didn't show. i think it looks very fallish. the scarecrow is sooo cute.

Pam--I can't believe Austin didn't get anything. Guess the storm was too far east. Good news for you-but I know you would have enjoyed the soaking rain we got.

Hi Marmee--I didn't find a comment from you on the croton and scarecrow. (Sorry--wonder what happened to it?) Thanks for the compliment though. I use to collect scarecrows, but have tried to reduce the amount of decorating I do these days.

Glad to hear you are okay also. We lost a couple of tree branches, but nothing major.

You are fortunate to miss the worst of it, and end up with just gusts and rain.
I like your photo of the patio surrounded by the waves of green. Everything looks fresh when it glistens.

Glad all is okay and I'll will think of the others not so lucky.

Debbi--we lost only small branches. The only problem now is standing water. We don't have great drainage, even with french drains, so I worry about plants (and seeds) rotting!

northern shade--plants do glisten when they are wet. It's such a clean healthy look. Much better than yellow and dry! :)

Thanks Tina--I heard that Houston got more rain last night. It may be a while before they can recover.
