This was definitely not a day to garden. It started to rain yesterday late afternoon, and rained all night into this morning. I think it stopped around 2 in the afternoon, but the day remained cloudy and cool.
We have such bad drainage in back, even with a french drain. Water will be standing for days-and the weather forecast is for rain all week. It was sure not a day to be outside...but..
..it was the perfect day to bake cinnamon cookies! My best friend gave me this recipe 19 years ago. It is the perfect cookie for a cool fall day. And it is really easy to make!

Carolyn's Cinnamon Cookies
Cream:
1 cup softened margarine
1 1/2 cup sugar
Add:
1 egg
1 T. plus 2 t. molasses
Combine:
2 1/4 cups flour
1 T. plus 2 t. cinnamon
1 1/2 t. baking soda
Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix well. Drop by level tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10-12 minutes (I bake mine 13 minutes). Let rest on cookie sheet about 2 minutes before removing to rack to cool.
Now pour yourself a glass of milk or a cup of coffee and enjoy! YUM!

Oh Linda those look delish! They are not exactly helping my sweet tooth that is acting up pretty bad right now. I'd better get to bed so I can forget about that.
Hope you are well and try to stay dry. We've been getting the same rain and are suppose to get more this week too.
Sounds delicious. May have to try them.
Oh, sorry about the rain. I know how it is to not be able to garden because of it.
Now this is a fun day-I'm thinking that in my garden we need rain more often so I can bake these cookies:) I'm going to give them a try for sure.
Susie, for some reason my sweet tooth acts up in fall too! Guess it is the cooler weather. We are due for lots more rain-I heard a forecast say the entire month of Oct will be wet!
Lola-yeah, when you work during the week, you LIVE for weekends and living outside. Oh well..it's ok. I had a good day anyway! :)
Tina-the cookies are so easy to make. Your son and hubby will love them! My youngest came over to pick up Allie (I was granddog sitting this weekend) and the smell of warm cinnamon cookies was sure pleasing to his nose! :)
Yummmmm!!!!
Please tell the rain to come here!! I am dying for some rain!!!
Cindee--I thought we were getting the rain from you! There is a hurricane (or tropical depression) off the pacific coast that is causing this. You are probably too far north to get the results, but that is why Texas is getting so much rain. The Dallas area is ok--I am sure glad south Texas is finally getting wet.
I'll tell the rain to backtrack and head north to your garden! :)
