Look what's blooming!

We had coffee on the patio this Sunday before church..and guess what I saw? Blooms on the cypress vine! You can barely see them (they are very small) winding around the chair. They are such a pretty red--and I LOVE red! I think they only bloom one day, but I see some buds so I should have blooms every day.
Sharing Nature's Garden mentioned in one of her posts that these plants are very invasive. I am hoping since mine is planted in a pot, I will not have that problem, but seeds do scatter so I guess it could happen. I am not worrying about that today. I will enjoy the cute little blooms.

Here is a better picture of how it winds around the chair..

...and how it winds around the post.
Now, come on morning glories, it's your turn to bloom!

Lovely blooms and the foliage on that vine is just as pretty. I bet that will be a hummingbird magnet with those red blooms. I like that chair you have it winding up too.

Good thought about the hummingbird pg! I will watch for them. Thanks for the reminder!

MT, I grew the white blooming variety of cypress vine and it does indeed reseed quite assertively! They're easy enough to pull, though, if you get them early on. Just keep an eye out for them ... not only do seeds scatter when the pods burst, but birds plant them in unexpected spots! It's hard not to love them, though, with their cheery little blooms and that ferny foliage.

Hi Cindy--thanks for the comment!
Yeah..I thought the birds would help those seeds. And I do everything I can to attrach birds to my yard! You are so right--I am just in love with this cute plant. I think it would look so cute winding it's way around the small pergola we have. Thanks for the information!

How exciting! It's almost Christmas in August since you didn't know what "color" your present would be when it unwrapped.

This is a bright colorful vine which I like. It does self seed but not an issue here.

My cypress vine has also started to bloom and i just love the pretty, charming flowers and lacy foliage. I plant to sprinkle the dried seeds in some more places!

JJ--and you know how I love red flowers!

Tina, glad to hear you say that! I don't see any problems because of where it is, and if it is easy to pull up, I can handle it. Thanks for your comment!

Hi Nicole! I am thinking I might do the same thing. And, I already know where I can scatter some seeds along a fence at my Mother's house. I really like this plant. I may be singing a different song next year--time will tell!
Happy Gardening!

At work this morning I saw a hummer having a great time on the cypress vine. They love it!

You obviously have a knack for decorating outside your house. I need some lessons from you.

Hi Susie! I saw a hummer at the feeder yesterday--I'm hoping they find the cypress vine, but how could they resist those pretty red flowers!
Thank you for the sweet compliment! I do enjoy "decorating" outside. Just like inside, I love a rustic, country look outside.
