Saturday Morning

I took my coffee out to the patio this drizzly Saturday morning. As I sat and watched the humming-
birds and cardinals come for breakfast, and listened to the sounds of the water hitting the rocks in the pond, I felt such peace. The sky was cloudy, and I suppose there are some that would call this a dreary day, but for me-it was a perfect morning.
For some reason, I love to see a garden on a foggy, drizzly day. After such a hot June, I know my plants are really happy with an overcast sky and rain!
I sometimes wonder why I bother with gardening-do you ever think about that? My answer comes pretty quickly though--I find serenity in my garden. I solve problems in the garden-and I sometimes create problems in the garden! :)
And on this drizzly Saturday morning, I find content-
ment in the garden.
The heat will return, the rain will stop, plants will come and go, and summer will turn into fall. But for this moment in time, I feel such peace.
I hope you all have a peaceful, beautiful weekend. I am taking a brief break from the blogging world. I will be back soon!

"Working in the garden gives me a profound feeling of inner peace. Nothing here is in a hurry. There is no rush toward accomplishments, no blowing of trumpets. Here is the great mystery of life and growth. Everything is changing, growing, aiming at something, but silently, unboastfully, taking it's time."

Your garden is so pretty. I love that high fence too. Did you all built it high on purpose? It is great! I'll miss you but you have my email so keep in touch please. I hope you are enjoying retirement and every morning should be a Saturday morning now;)

Looks like we both had a similar morning yesterday. I was happily surprised when it started raining, my rainbarrels were empty and the garden was looking a bit worn out. But Mother Nature did her thing and it really made a difference. Have a great rest of your weekend in the garden Linda. :)

I find gardening very peaceful and relaxing. It's great that you got some rain, and and reprieve from the sun. Gardens do look pretty in the rain, especially when all of the leaves glisten from the water drops.

Your flowers look wonderful Linda. Right now I'm not feeling the love so much. My flowers are burning up without rain and this heat. I'm questioning myself why I do it. Wish I felt as content as you do.

Like you, dear beloved sister, I love it when it rains! And, so does your namesake - Linda Marie told me during our last big thunderstorm that she never did understand why rain made some people depressed because she loves it when the sky gets dark and the way the air smells right before it starts to rain.

I have not had a chance to post to your blog lately -but, I loved the photos from your retirement party, you have been so blessed to work with such great folks, of course, they have been fortunate to have you as their co-worker. Loved the cake, btw!

I can't wait for you to come and play with your sister in Spring - I am counting the days until the Quilt Festival!!!

When I'm out sweating in the garden on a sunny summer morning, swatting mosquitoes and pulling weeds, I do wonder why I garden. Then I spot a new bloom or a butterfly passing through and remember.

May your retirement be all you've wished for and more!
