Absolutely beautiful. I love the color. Peonies are one of my favorites. They are lovely and smell wonderful.

Ours are still a couple weeks from blooming.

Oh my, Mother had said how lovely the peonies were, but goodness they just take your breath away and in a photo - they must be stunning in person!!

I need to remind myself to try peonies next year. So many plants, so little space...

Have you ever grown Beard's Tongue? Or Coral Nymph? They are really pretty and unusual.

JJ--I was really lucky to get a bouquet. And they have lasted over a week! And smell sooooo good!

Tina--Mother's peonies have been the prettiest we have ever seen. Cold winter maybe--not sure, but she has really enjoyed them.

Marnie--don't they smell delicious! Peonies here bloom early, but I remember going to my daughter's graduation from Darden at UVA in May..and the peonies there were in full bloom. We had a bouquet in our room at the Inn where we stayed.

Kim, they have been gorgeous--but I have only seen them a couple of times. Mother loves having bouquets of them, and I always hate when they stop blooming. They like cold winters (I think). Susan Albert (author) told me she can't get them to grow in south Texas.
I have not grown either of those you mentioned, but aren't they considered tropical? With your Houston weather they should do great. Wonder if Cindy (my corner of katy) has ever grown them?

Carol--glad you like them.. They stayed pretty for so long. Wish they bloomed all summer!

These are so beautiful. There's nothing quite like that particular shade of pink.

Hi Brenda--yes, that is a pretty pink isn't it? Peonies are such a spring treat.

Now I know where you got your green thumb; your Mom's blooms are stunning. I love peonies but have never been able to successfully grow them.

Incredible! Now if only I could smell them!

Nola--my Mother definetly has a green thumb. We enjoy comparing notes and garden shopping together. I am surprised peonies do so well for her here in Texas. If we don't have a cold winter, she will put ice cubes around the them at times in the winter.

Robin--they sure do smell good! I bet peonies do really well where you live.

Thanks Pam. I really enjoyed having it in my kitchen..

Racquel--thanks, and I will look forward to your pictures! On our way to Va--will wave at you as we fly over! :)

Can you actually grow peonies in Texas? I had no idea! I must try this- I do miss having peonies! I've gone 'native' but peonies would be nice!

S. in north Texas.

S--my Mother "the green thumb" can grow them, but some years they don't do well. She puts ice cubes around the base in winter--but not this year. The snow did the trick for pretty blooms this year.
