We drove the "Enchanted Circle" which was a beautiful drive that took us to Taos. Loved the old buildings..
and really loved the neat shopping that was there!
Right outside Red River, we took a 10 mile (round trip) hike up to Lost Lake (yep, it was really 10 miles!)
There was even a little bridge to help us cross the creek. It was a great hike, but boy were we tired when we got back to the car!
though only 1 of us was lucky enough to catch a fish!
And of course, I found lots of flowers !
Flowers always grow so well in the cool mountain air.
Umm..

Umm..
poppies!
These flowers were in town..
And these were only 2 of the many flowers we passed on our hike.
It was the perfect get-a-way! If I can't be digging in the dirt, being 11,000 feet up in the mountains really puts in smile on my face!

Our daughter and future SIL are in town this weekend for wedding planning so I will be away from blogging for a few days. I hope everyone is having a good summer, and if you live in an area (like ours) that is experiencing terrible heat, be careful out in the garden!

So glad you were able to make a little trip to the mountains. Your pictures and description are great. Cuddles that you included a picture of yourself!! Hope the wedding planning goes well.
Have fun with your daughter. Your vacation looks like fun-all except that 10 mile hike:)
jj-it was sure nice to leave the heat a bit!
Tina--lol. That's probably what hubby would say about the hike, but it was awesome!
Hey Linda, seeing and hearing about that hike made me miss our trip to the Smokies. I enjoy hiking like that so much. Glad you were able to see some wildflowers in bloom.
Enjoy your time with your daughter and have a great weekend!
Hi Susie! Actually, I thought of you as we were hiking! I knew this would be a hike you would enjoy.
I love those adobe buildings! Ahh, just the thought of being in the cool, cool mountains (instead of the hot, hot prairies) lifts my spirits.
Great pics. Hope you had a wonderful time as it appears.
Enjoy your time with your dau.
I love adobe too Nola! I love all the decorating "stuff" in NM!
And we loved the cooler temps. It was 39 the morning we left to come home!
Thanks Lola.
Hey, so you lived in Lewisville! My favorite cross stitch shop is there...Aida Works. In fact, since cross stitch is no longer a popular item, it's the only shop around.
Bet you're glad you are not there now with these hot temps! Whew, it's hot!
Thanks for sharing your vacation pictures. I enjoyed them. (I'm just a little jealous.)
Glad you enjoyed the pictures MR! See you in a another week!
I wish I could feel some cool mountain air! Don't much like to travel, but the heat here is getting intolerable, huh? I'm glad you got a little get away. Rejuvenates a person oftentimes. Even if they think they don't need it!
(Tells ya I probably need it!)
Brenda
Brenda, I would have brought some cool air with me for Texas if I could have. It was 39 in the early morning the day we left! This heat is so depressing..
especially when you know the plants have plenty of water--it's the heat that is killing them.
Looks like an interesting place to visit Linda. Have fun with the wedding plans. :)
I love New Mexico, and your pics make me wish I was in Taos or Santa Fe right now!
Pam--it was sure nice there! No hot temps like here...pretty flowers, streams, mountains, and GREAT shopping! :)
