We have a tiny little garden space, not room for much, but we do enjoy a few things. The tomatoes we planted have not looked good at all. I think they got way too much water when we had heavy rains; and I think the cold weather set them back. But today I saw signs of new growth, so maybe they will make it. We will just replace them if not.
My sweet neighbor Barbara gave me lettuce. It was really small when I planted it, and is now big enough to pick for salad.
And the carrots...
well, do ya think it's high time I thin them out? Yes, I think you are right!
Then there are the onions. They just seem to grow no matter what, don't they?
We planted them on either side of the tomato plants and lettuce..and guess what??
We had fresh onions with our navy beans tonight! YUM!

If you see lots of little green plants mixed in with these veggies, it is yellow and orange cosmos coming up. I made the mistake of tossing a cosmos plant in the garden late one summer, and..well you know the rest of that story! But that is ok--I like a few flowers growing among my veggies! I need to find banana peppers to plant and that will be it. No room for anything else.
How is your garden doing this spring?

I don't have room for a vegetable garden, either, so for several years, I've mixed in tomatoes, peppers, onions, radishes, and cilantro among my flowers. I really like the look, too. The cilantro has gone wild since I let some go to seed and it's mixed into everything (even the lawn) now. Yours will look lovely with the cosmos mixed in! Happy Easter!
So far the only things I have planted are red and white onions and hot banana peppers. Every time I think about planting my tomatoes, squash, cucumbers a cold front comes in or something else comes along. I thought I would finally do this tomorrow but now I have to work so once more, no planting. Boo hoo!!!
No veggie garden for ms. Our veggie garden consists of a couple of big pots. We get some enjoyment from it but nothing like you do!!!
I wish my veggie garden was doing as well as yours! It is looking great! I've been neglecting mine. You'll soon have more veggies to eat in that salad with the fresh grown lettuce. We just had a big T-storm here and everything is so green!
Glad to see your veggie garden plants are hanging in there. Between the rain, wind, freezes, and rapid rising temps these poor babies have been through it all in about a scan of a week (or at least 2 weeks). yummmmmm Navy Beans with fresh from the garden onions -- I better have my 16 year old check his onions (planted for me-such a sweetie). :D
Hi Linda, You have SO many things blooming and growing in your herb/veggie/flower gardens! I read down your list of flowers blooming and wish I could see them all! I have many of the same things planted but not in bloom just yet. Don't you just love this time of year, when everything is popping up and the sun starts shining? I hope you'll have a Happy Easter and a Wonderful spring, dear Linda:-) Jan
Everything is growing wonderfully! I just love to see little rows of vegetables. Reminds me of growing up. Our huge garden and the rows lined up like soldiers.

Hi Nola. Sounds like you have some good veggies growing among your flowers! I have got to get peppers! Maybe this weekend...
Happy Easter!
Susie, I know..these cold fronts really put a damper on spring planting! I need to get banana peppers--I buy the sweet.
I hope you have a blessed Easter!
mr--lots of people grow veggies in pots. My daughter grew cherry tomatoes in a pot in front of her living room window! How cool is that!! :)
Tina, I just wish the lettuce would last in the summer. It is way too hot here to grow lettuce--and that is the one thing I buy the most of! :)
Happy Easter!
jj--better check those onions. Ours are just right for the "pulling!" Dinner was pretty good last night! :)
Jan-I wish you were here to see my little garden too! We would sit out back in the swing and have a cup of coffee or tea and just enjoy nature! sigh.. :)
Have a wonderful Easter!
Brenda, this time of year I wish for a big garden with rows and rows...then it turns hot and I am so grateful I have this tiny little garden that is sooo hard to water! :)
I haven't started planting mine yet, since our last frost date is April 10th-15th. Got all the plants & seeds to get going next week though. Your's looks great Linda! :)
Racquel-I seem to always rush planting things, but it gets warm here so early it's hard to resist!
Have a good weekend--Happy Easter!
Even a little veggie plot can produce a lot. My sister's raised bed produced more than my whole garden last year. I won't let that happen again:) Your little plot looks quite nice.
Thanks Debbi! There are just 2 of us..so it's about right. I wish I had room for squash. I have tried several times, but it just needs more room for those runners.
