A Pass-along plant and seeds!

This must be my lucky week. My sweet neighbor came over yesterday and brought me one of her Christmas Cactus. She has several of these plants and they are beautiful. One of the plants is hugh! If you look closely at the picture, top left side, you can see that it already has buds. I was told to keep it in a room that is not too light right now, so the blooms will slow down a bit. Isn't it pretty? I can't wait to see all the flowers. Thank you so much Jane!
Then I go get the mail today--and I have seeds from Tina at In The Garden. There are actually 3 contributors to this blog-Tina, Skeeter and Dawn. The pictures are fantastic, and the plant information is so good that I print copies for my garden journal. Tina asked if anyone would like some nicotiana (flowering tobacco) seeds in a post she did, and I wrote her "yes please!" I not only got the nicotiana, but 5 other seed packets. I am in plant heaven! Thank you so much Tina!!

Isn't Tina the best. She is so generous. She also sent me a lot of seeds. I'm enjoying them a lot.

I brought my Christmas cactus inside Monday. I have found that by leaving it out during the summer and then bringing it in when it gets cold helps it to bloom.

JJ--I WAS excited! I'll keep you updated on what happens! Keep your fingers crossed for good results! :)

Hi lola! Tina is the best! She is generous and so knowledgeable! I hope your seeds do well. Keep me posted on where you plant them and how they do.

Susie--Jane told me the same thing! I didn't know you ever put them outside. Where did you put yours when you brought it in? Do you let it get much light? This is new territory for me! :)

Hi, thanks for stopping by!
Ooooh, it's like Christmas at your house, new plants and seeds; isn't it the best when someone you like gives them to you? Then you think of them every time you see the plant.
We are 30 miles south of Dallas, it did get into the mid 30's night before last, but I'd thrown sheets and blankets over the plants on the patio and moved them into the corner. I checked today, they all made it without any damage.

Hi Nola-glad your plants did ok. I live in a suburb of Dallas. We had a little frost, but plants were ok. I dread moving things in, covering others, then losing some.
I get so excited when I get new plants and seeds. I knew how you felt when you posted about meeting Aunt Debbi and getting the plant from her. So special!!

I just sit it in the dining room where it receives low-medium light. This year it probably won't bloom much because half of it broke off. I probably need to invest in a new Christmas cactus.

This is so sweet. The seeds were nothing, that Christmas Cactus is pretty gorgeous-and already grown and rooted and buds too! What a very sweet neighbor. Tell her your garden blogging friends think so.

You are very sweet to mention me and my blog. I did not know you printed some of the posts. Alright, I'm blushing now. Good luck and I look forward to seeing that flowering tobacco in your garden next year. I didn't know you already had orange cosmos until after I sent them. Ha! You can never have too many. ttyl

And hello Lola!

Thanks Susie--I'll hopefully post a picture of this one in full bloom sometime.

Jane is a very sweet neighbor! I am lucky to have her!

You're right about the joy of gardening.

It's almost summer here, so my garden is full of roses.

Racquel--I think gardener's want to share what they love with others that love the same thing. That's one reason we all love blogging so much--we love sharing.
Happy Gardening!

Hi David-Welcome! Gardening is indeed one of my greatest joys. My son spent 3 weeks in Australia this summer--and it was late winter for you! I bet your roses are beautiful about this time of year. I already look forward to spring here--I love the blooming season!

My neighbor was moving her Christmas cactus plants indoors the other day. And I realized I hadn't had one of those in many years. She's going to give me some. Don't know what color flower yet.

Hi Brenda, I think this one is pink. Guess it's that time of year to move things inside. Ugh..how long until spring?? :)
